Why this scholarship?
Founded by Designated Managing Broker Kyle Cortez in 2023, the Right Start Realty Scholarship reflects our commitment to supporting and investing in the education of our future neighbors. As a local small business, we are proud to give back to the communities that have supported us. This scholarship is our way of helping a hardworking student take the next step toward their future.
What?
The Right Start Realty Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000, created to offer financial support to a deserving local student. While this is a single award, it’s designed to make a meaningful investment in the recipient’s education, aligning with our commitment to fostering the success of future community leaders.
Who is eligible?
Graduation and Residency:
Applicants must have graduated from high school in either Will, Kankakee, Grundy, or La Salle county.
Enrollment:
Recipients must be enrolled as students at an accredited higher education institution, or trade school, for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
Financial Need:
Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a financial need, emphasizing a commitment to supporting those facing economic challenges in pursuing their education.
When is the deadline?
The deadline for submitting applications for the “Right Start Realty Scholarship” is April 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
What is the process?
Applicants can expect to complete a questionnaire and answer several short-answer essay questions. Completed applications will be evaluated by the Right Start Realty Scholarship Committee considering factors such as academic achievements, community engagement, responses to essay questions, and financial need. Award funds will be disbursed directly made payable to the university/institution.
When will the winner be announced?
The selected recipient will be notified and the winner will be publicly announced on the Right Start Realty website and other social media pages on April 16, 2025. Past recipients can be found here.
